Fingers?[]
Um... I don't think any in-canon reason has actually been given for the differing number of fingers, let along it having anything to do with "Chaos Energy" (which falls apart pretty fast). Where did that come from? Besides, some Mobians have less than even four. CrazyLea 21:06, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

- All I remember from that time was Nate Morgan mentioning people with five fingers and Tails saying something along the lines of "Just like me and Sonic!" - nothing about why. Otherwise, it has nothing to do with Chaos energy (a lot of the game characters aren't that closely related to it, while Knuckles was shown with four, and many characters who were close to it still only have four) and certainly isn't species-specific (Sonic vs Rob, Tails vs any number of foxes, Blaze and Big vs Hershey and Sasha, etc..). It's not so much artistic error so much as artistic styles - it's not like anyone at Archie had a master list of who had how many fingers. Basically, it was the clash of styles between SegaSonic and SatAM (in which even Sonic and Tails had four fingers, and Bunnie's one hand only had three), and some artists veering more towards one than the other. You may as well just say that there is no standard, because there isn't - some have five, some have four and some have three with no reasons given, and some change depending on who's drawing at the time. - That's not "ironic" at all... regardless, it's only because the colourists back in the day used to just slap blue eyes on everyone, including characters who were supposed to have a different colour. It should be pretty obvious that the colouring in the older issues was far less detailed in general. In other words, it was more laziness than a design choice. CrazyLea 13:29, March 6, 2011 (UTC)
