The Society for Observing and Neutralizing Inter-dimensional Creatures and Xenomorphs (S.O.N.I.C.X.) was an organization from the Sonic X Zone who worked against that zone's version of Sonic the Hedgehog. Each member's life changed because Sonic (or one of his friends or Dr. Eggman) directly or indirectly ruined their lives and careers. Together, the group wanted revenge. The organization's expanded name was thought up by Jerome Wise.
History[]
S.O.N.I.C.X. began their attack on Sonic by dispatching several robots in capturing him. After capturing Sonic, the members of the organization revealed themselves to him, informing him of their organization, and explaining their personal motivations against Sonic. However, Sonic derided S.O.N.I.C.X. for coming up with their organization's name and then easily escaping from them. (SX: #23)
S.O.N.I.C.X. later attempted to tarnish Sonic's good name by creating an army of Sonic clones; however, the clones are accidentally made with different colors, leading the citizens into believing they are related to the original, although not the original himself. Sonic tricked Dr. Eggman into destroying his copies, and the final clone accidentally destroyed by S.O.N.I.C.X. themselves. (SX: #25)
Much later, S.O.N.I.C.X. commissioned Hector Dragg to capture the President in order to force him to make Sonic and his friends illegal, thus making them enemies of the state. However, due to an incident where Sonic and Dr. Eggman switched bodies, Sonic (in Eggman's body) crashes the Egg Mobile into Dragg's car, releasing the President and forcing the pilot to retreat. Due to the series of failures in their attacks on Sonic, the Organizer of S.O.N.I.C.X. grilled the members for their incompetence in being unable to stop Sonic when they are united. The organization placated the Organizer with promise of stopping Sonic by infecting him with a highly viral mutagen that would transform him into a monster that the organization sees him as. Unfortunately, the attempt only briefly transformed Vector the Crocodile into a rampaging giant. (SX: #38, #39)
S.O.N.I.C.X. later prepared to launch their next attack on Sonic, but immediatly called off the plan upon seeing Shadow the Hedgehog with Sonic; realising that battling the two hedgehogs would be too much for them to handle. (SX: #40)
Background Information[]
- The initials of the organization spell S.O.N.I.C.X., a pun on the fact that it is in a comic series of the same name. When Sonic first noticed the initials, he mocked it, thinking that the organization was a fan club.
- All members of the group had previously appeared in the Sonic X anime at some point or another.
