The Olympic Games, also known more simply as the Olympics, were an athletic event that took place in the Another Time, Another Place Zone. Sonic and many of his friends took part in the games, only to have Dr. Eggman, Orbot and Cubot, and the Caterkillers interfere, trapping everyone but Sonic. Sonic was then forced to compete in several events against Metal Sonic for his friends' freedom. Exhausted, he managed to achieve victory by harnessing the "Spirit of the Olympics." (StH: #242)

Background Information[]

  • In the Prime Zone in the Pre-Super Genesis Wave Timeline, the Knothole Freedom Fighters participated in an Olympic-like event organised by Robotnik. (StH: #5)
  • The Olympics are based on the real world Olympic Games, with their inclusion in the Sonic comic being inspired by the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games series. Despite this, no characters from the Mario universe appear during the events.
    • All Sonic characters from the 3DS storyline of Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games are in the comic except for Jet and Omega who are replaced by Marine.
  • Although the planet that Sonic and friends live on in the "Another Time, Another Place" universe is never named, the presence of a USA banner at the Olympic stadium could imply that they are in fact on Earth.
