Northern Oceans is an underwater region of Sonic's World, that is presumably part of the Great Blue Realm. It is threatened by the Northern Oceans Egg Army under Akhlut the Orca, while the other Egg Army unit, led by Abyss the Squid, threatened the southern counterpart.
