Thorny, a Mobian Needle Bird.
The Mobian Needle Bird is a species of half bird, half porcupine mobinis that can be found on Northamer.
History[]
Dr. Ivo Robotnik's Tyranny[]
Following Dr. Ivo Robotnik's rise to power, most the Mobian Needle Bird population would be roboticized. One of the few Mobian Needle Birds who managed to elude that fate was found by Sonic in the Great Forest in 3235. Naming the injured Mobian Needle Bird Thorny, Sonic decided to give him to Sally as a pet for her birthday so he could be cared for. However, Sally got Sonic to return Thorny to the wild, especially after he ate her birthday cake. Despite that, Thorny returned to Sonic's side and rescued him from a Robot Tree by carrying him to safety. After that, they saved Sally from another Robot Tree. When Dr. Robotnik then came and held Sonic and Sally at gunpoint, Thorny drove Robotnik away. As thanks, Thorny was named an honorary Knothole Freedom Fighter by Sonic and Sally. (StH: #9)

Mobian Needle Birds are non-anthropomorphic avians resembling ducks/chickens with numerous needle-like spines around their bodies.
Culture[]
Although non-sapient, the Mobian Needle Birds are friendly, brave, and loyal towards their friends. They also seem to favor berries from the Needle Berry Bushes. (StH: #9)
Abilities[]
Mobian Needle Birds are capable of flight and are surprisingly strong for their sizes, being able to carry an average-sized mobian through the air without much trouble. They can also launch their spines at targets. (StH: #9)
