The Metropolis Egg Army is the local chapter of the Egg Army based in Metropolis Zone. Its membership includes a Foreman and it was previously infiltrated by Bunnie D'Coolette. Unlike other units of the Egg Army, the Metropolis Zone forces are a small division with no Egg Boss, and they answer directly to Dr. Eggman. [1]

The Metropolis Egg Army were in the early stages of creating a replacement for Dr. Eggman's most recent Death Egg. They had succeeded in creating a shield generator for the project about the time that Sonic the Hedgehog and Tails arrived and attacked Metropolis. Unbeknownst to the Egg Soldiers, their ranks had been infiltrated by Bunnie of the Knothole Freedom Fighters. Upon being reunited, the trio of heroes stole the shield generator for use in the Sky Patrol. Any efforts the Egg Army might have been able to muster to stop them were curtailed as the city was rocked by an earthquake. (StH: #255)

- The Metropolis Egg Army is the first Egg Army unit to be introduced without any named membership, as well as reporting directly to Dr. Eggman without an assigned Egg Boss.
- Given their position as the occupying forces of a city entirely controlled by Dr. Eggman, the Egg Army could be considered a replacement for the lost New Megaopolis Dark Egg Legion.
