Mecha Sonic was a powerful robot based on Sonic the Hedgehog and created by Dr. Ivo "Eggman" Robotnik.
History[]
Island Invader[]
Mecha Sonic was part of the invasion force employed by Robotnik on Angel Island during his initial invasion, and it thus worked in tandem with both the doctor and Dr. Julian Snively. This resulted in multiple clashes between it, Sonic, Miles "Tails" Prower, and Knuckles the Echidna after the Guardian learned of the Humans' treachery. It managed to steal the Master Emerald and briefly underwent a Super Transformation, but ultimately proved to be no match for the heroes. (VG: S&K; SSD: #12; UPM - StH: #291)
Appearance[]
Mecha Sonic as it would most likely have appeared in the unfinished and unreleased Sonic issue #291.
Mecha Sonic resembled a cross between the second Silver Sonic and Metal Sonic, being closer to the former in size but more like the latter in abilities.
Abilities[]
Mecha Sonic was flight capable, super fast, super strong, and could also perform Sonic's signature Spin Dash. While capable of fighting and getting about on its own, it also piloted the Egg Mobile on occasion.
Background Information[]
- This version of Mecha Sonic comes from the game Sonic & Knuckles, where it served as a recurring boss. No version of it existed in the Pre-Super Genesis Wave Timeline, though Shard the Metal Sonic and the Robian version of Sonic both went by the same name.
