The Chosen One and Shadow sending all of the Chaos Emeralds in the universe into the Zone of Silence, beginning the Great Harmony
The Great Harmony is an event which was prophesized by the Ancient Walkers, in which a "Chosen One" would gather all of the Chaos Emeralds and use them for a higher purpose of some kind.

The Prophecy[]
Eons ago, the young sun burned brightly on its newly spawned world, Mobius! Life evolved slowly until the first Walker emerged from the primordial ooze...Centuries passed and sentient creatures continued to develop ushering in the new Saurian age...A brutal balance was struck and this simple society thrived - until the sky above turned green! Beauty and terror combined as the heavens opened up and the hard hail fell upon all! Those who survived were witness to the Coming of the Chaos Emeralds! Over centuries, these crystals have inspired many cultural wonders. Pagan worship, technological advances capable of driving those who harness them mad, and in the hands of pure evil, they can be corrupted into weapons of destruction! But, absolute energy cannot be created or destroyed - the infinite power of the Chaos Emeralds shall realign for a higher purpose! The Chosen One who will gather them will walk amongst you...and the Great Harmony shall begin! So it is written and therefore, so it must come to be. (TMS: #3)
The Reality[]
Miles "Tails" Prower turned out to be the Chosen One. At first Tails believed he had fulfilled the prophecy when he merged with all of his alternate universe counterparts to become Titan Tails and defeated Master Mogul. However, when A.D.A.M. used Turbo Tails and Super Shadow to draw all of the Chaos Emeralds in the universe to Mobius with the help of a transmitting tower from the nanite city, he realized he'd not yet fulfilled the prophecy. With innumerable Chaos Emeralds gathered from Mobius, Argentium, Thoraxia, Weeet, Teragosa 6, the Xorda homeworld, and the star that destroyed E.V.E., they concluded there was only one safe place for this many gems gathered together at the same time. The two then used their combined powers to transport all of the Chaos Emeralds into the Zone of Silence, thus fulfilling the Great Harmony. (StH: #149, #150, #168, #169, TMS: #3)
