IceCap Zone is a region on Angel Island consisting of ice and snow.
History[]
Repairing the Death Egg[]
After his defeat at the hands of Sonic and Tails, Dr. Eggman's Death Egg crash landed on the floating island, resulting in the island sinking down to the water's surface. Eggman used the Launch Base Zone as his base for repairs and apparently messed with the systems. IceCap Zone was the area that Sonic and Tails passed through after Carnival Night Zone, which eventually lead to Launch Base Zone. (VG: SH3aK)
Knuckles later passed through IceCap Zone to reach Launch Base Zone in pursuit of a fleeing EggRobo controlled by Dr. Julian Snively, Dr. Eggman's assistant, after multiple encounters on the island. (VG: S3aK, SU: #70)
Connected to the Surface[]
After Knuckles shattered the Master Emerald in an attempt to keep it out of the hands of both Dr. Eggman and Rouge the Bat, Angel Island once again fell to the ocean. As a result, Sonic and Tails found themselves in an icy passage leading to IceCap Zone. After fighting Dr. Eggman's Badniks on the outside of the mountain, Sonic and Tails entered inside to where they had to get up to the top to escape. To do this they had to climb ice spikes coming out from below the "floors" of the mountain. Once out of the mountain, an avalanche occurred, forcing Sonic and Tails to snowboard down the mountain to escape. Once on the other side of the mountain, Sonic and Tails found the Chaos Emerald they were seeking. Big the Cat also came across the mountain after his friend, Froggy, ran inside of it and fished for Froggy in a pool inside. The Master Emerald was eventually restored, causing the island to once again return to the sky. (VG: SA2/SA2B)

Knuckles and Shadow arrive at the border between IceCap Zone and Launch Base Zone.
Knuckles the Echidna and Shadow the Hedgehog passed through numerous shortcuts on Angel Island in an attempt to intercept Eclipse the Darkling and his Dark Arms, who had stolen the Master Emerald and were heading to Launch Base Zone in an attempt to use the shuttle left by Team Dark to flee the island. The border of IceCap Zone and Launch Base Zone was one of the areas Knuckles and Shadow appeared at. (SU: #67, #70)
Background Information[]
- IceCap Zone is based on the level of the same name in the video game, Sonic the Hedgehog 3. In the comics before reality was altered by the interrupted Super Genesis Wave, it was always written as "Ice Cap Zone" with a space in the word "IceCap". While unnamed in the comics after reality was warped, it is assumed to now be called IceCap Zone as the comic series' history is now strictly in line with the game series and is therefore considered tier 2 canon by this site's canon policy, as it does not contradict already established canon from tier 1, especially since the previous spelling was from a time where the comic series was not as strictly in line with the game series and was before the series was rebooted to do so.
