Archie Comics Publications (known more simply as Archie Comics) is an American comic book . Originally founded in November 1939 as MLJ Magazines, the company is best known for its comedic, slice of life stories surrounding various characters, including its namesake teenage character, Archie Andrews.
As well as their own in-house characters, the company has also published licensed comic book series based on other franchises, the most notable being the Archie Sonic the Hedgehog comics and its various spin-offs, under license by SEGA since 1992, and continued until 2017. The Sonic titles were first published under Archie's Archie Adventure Series banner for the first 12 years of its run, and under the Archie Action Series imprint for its final 3 years.
