E-101 Beta was the first model (not counting E-100 Alpha) of Dr. Eggman's E-100 Series robot. Beta was later equipped with upgrades due to its promising performance, but was destroyed by his "brother" E-102 Gamma after he rebelled against Eggman and struck out on his own, destroying any other E-100 unit he could find. (StH: #81, #82 SSS: #13 SU: #3)
In SU: #3, Beta's upgraded design was mistakenly coloured black, white, yellow and red compared to his upgraded black, white and green design in Sonic Adventure. A few other design changes include the optic modules (Beta's final version has a unique optic design in the games, instead of the standard 2 eyes) and the waistplate, which was absent in the comic.
