The Crown of Acorns is a magical artifact of the House of Acorn, part of a set with the Sword of Acorns and Ring of Acorns. Like the other objects, the Crown was apparently lost during Dr. Ivo Robotnik's takeover of the Kingdom of Acorn, and was actually hidden in the mind of King Maximillian Acorn. It was eventually brought out by the Sword of Acorns, and kept by the royal family in Robotropolis and then Knothole. Max wore it for over a year, later passing it on to his son Elias Acorn when Elias took the throne. The Crown was then lost to Mammoth Mogul, who corrupted its powers for himself briefly before the artifact was destroyed by Sir Connery, Paladin of the Ancient Walkers, at the cost of his own life.

Creation and Loss[]
Forged from part of the Source of All that was sluiced off of Max after his first interaction with the sentient substance, the Crown of Acorns became a symbol of the King's authority to rule. When Dr. Ivo Robotnik rose to power, the Crown was hidden-presumably by Max himself-in his mind, which came to be referred to in lore as the "Hall of Limbo." It was eventually restored when the Sword of Acorns, recovered first by Knuckles the Echidna and then the Knothole Freedom Fighters, was given back to Max. With the Crown returned, both artifacts cleansed Max of the crystallizing spell placed on him by Ixis Naugus in the Zone of Silence, as well as breaking Naugus' possession spell. (StH: #58, SSS: #4)
Use and Destruction[]
Max wore the Crown of Acorns for over a year after its recovery, the artifact serving as little more than a symbol of his power and helping in some ways to maintain his health. When he was poisoned by Patch, aka the Anti-Mobius Antoine D'Coolette, the Crown was passed to his son Elias when Elias took the throne. Elias then wore it for some time before turning it over to Merlin Prower, a wizard who needed it and the Sword in order to heal the dying Ancient Walkers. His efforts came to late, as the Walkers were destroyed, and the Crown was then stolen by Mammoth Mogul as the Walkers' curse on his Chaos Emerald was broken, freeing him. Corrupting the Crown, he soon obtained the Sword from Ixis Naugus during a massive three way battle that ended up being a two way fight between Mogul, Naugus, the Destructix, the Arachne, the Freedom Fighters, and the Chaotix. Elias attempted to cleanse the Crown of Mogul's evil, but Mogul's magic overwhelmed his birthright and Elias was unable to do so. The Crown was then destroyed by Sir Connery, who used his magical Sword of Light to destroy both it and the Sword to prevent their further use for evil. (StH: #155, #162, #163, #164)

- An earlier version of the Crown appeared in Sonic Miniseries #2, but this storyline was retconned.
