Coconuts is a monkey-based Badnik in the employ of Breezie the Hedgehog, and a member of the Super Special Sonic Search & Smash Squad. He serves as Breezie's personal assistant, and is often in competition with his long-time teammates.
History[]
Minion of Eggman[]
Coconuts and the Egg Antlion battling Sonic.
Coconuts and his teammates Scratch and Grounder "kidnapped" Breezie in order to lure Sonic the Hedgehog into their clutches. Coconuts piloted an Egg Mobile and teamed up with the Super Badnik Egg Antlion to attack the Hedgehog, expecting "a big prrrromotion!" from Dr. Eggman for his part in bringing down the Hedgehog. Unfortunately, Sonic tricked him into attacking out of fear that the Antlion would be rewarded instead, and thus took out the Antlion and gave Sonic the opportunity to defeat Coconuts himself. Working For Breezie[]
Shortly before the start of the Chaos Emerald Championship, Coconuts approached Breezie as she admired her most recent acquisition: the green Chaos Emerald. Coconuts and the other 6S veterans came across the Emerald during reconstruction efforts in the wake of the Shattered World Crisis, and excitedly delivered it to Breezie. Both he and Scratch attempted to claim credit for finding the Emerald, only for an overly-excited Grounder to run over Coconuts and explain that he had been the one to actually find it. Each member of the trio then had a proposal for how she might use it, with Coconuts suggesting that she might turn her company Breeze Media "into a literal empire!" Breezie took his suggestion into consideration, and the result was the tournament. He and her other former captors-turned-underlings, Scratch and Grounder, later informed her of Knuckles the Echidna's illegal addition to the tournament roster, but she allowed it excitedly. Appearance[]
Coconuts is a robot with an appearance similar to the monkey Badnik of the same name from Sonic the Hedgehog 2. He body is mostly colored gray with an orangey-red head, a peach-colored face, and wears a black tuxedo with a white shirt underneath. He also has orangey-red and white shoes/feet, a gray, seemingly crooked tail, has a big, dome-shaped light-bulb on the top of his head, and he has gray plattings that resembles giant screw-tops on each side of his head.
Personality[]
Coconuts is apparently loyal to Breezie the Hedgehog, preferring her to Dr. Eggman. He is fiercely competitive with her other subordinates, particularly Scratch, and likes the idea of Breezie trying to take over the world herself.
Background Information[]
- Coconuts was loosely based on a mechanical monkey of the same name (known in Japan as "Aiai") from the Emerald Hill Zone in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (the Genesis version). Aside from the color, the main design difference is a light bulb on top of the head. He also was a semi-regular in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog animated series.
- The fact that Cocnuts is working for Breezie in the Post-SGW timeline might be a nod to the fact that Coconuts and Breezie both appeared as characters in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog TV series.
