Bertha Kintobor (née Robotnik) was an Overlander and daughter of Gerald Robotnik. She married Ivo Kintobor and became the mother of Colin and Julian Kintobor, who would later become Dr. Robotnik. She was only seen and mentioned in a world-wide television biography on the late Robotnik Prime, which was broadcast by an alternative version of Dr. Robotnik. (StH: #72)
Background information[]
- Professor Gerald was named Gerald Robotnik in Sonic the Hedgehog #171 to coincide with the SEGA Game canon. This went against the previously established canon that the name "Robotnik" was created by Julian Kintobor upon launching his military coup. Writer Ian Flynn argued that Julian took on the last name "Robotnik" from his grandfather Gerald and thus the last name already existed, as Gerald was his maternal grandfather and thus would not have had the last name Kintobor. This would mean that Bertha would be Gerald's daughter.
- A photograph of an unnamed individual identified as "Mother Robotnik" but bearing a different design can be glimpsed in Sonic the Hedgehog #21. This may either be Bertha or another relative.
- In the cartoon Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Robotnik's mother had a different design than her comic book counterpart and was referred to as "Mama Robotnik".
