Ball Hog, also known as Ballhog, is a pig-based classic badnik created by Dr. Ivo Robotnik. They were once among Robotnik's primary worker force, until they were deemed obsolete and replaced by more effective forces.
History[]
Dr. Ivo Robotnik's Tyranny[]
Ball Hog was among the Badniks who attended Dr. Ivo Robotnik's presentation in Renobotnik where the doctor unveiled his latest Classic Badnik: Orbinaut. A while later, Ball Hog decided to steer clear of Robotnik for the next few days for his own safety while the doctor raged over acquiring a treasure that turned out to be Sonic's bronzed baby shoes. Ballhog and Newtron.
Later, Ball Hog and Newtron had the task of dynamiting a random place in an attempt to flush out a spy. Sonic, who knew what was happening, set off the explosives before the bomb could reach its intended target. Ball Hog, was also present during an attack on what Robotnik thought was a wedding between Sonic and Princess Sally. (StH: #16, #18)
Return[]
He didn't show up again until Sonic decided to visit the Island of Misfit Badniks. Ball Hog was among the badniks that fought Sonic, before Pseudo-Sonic caused the island to sink. Ball Hog finally saw some action when the Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters attacked the island in order to stop the badnik's from enlarging Pseudo-Sonic. Ball Hog led the second wave of badniks, consisting of himself, Splats, Orbinaut, and Coconuts. He took on Bivalve, before getting beaten up. Like all of the other badniks, Ball Hog was compacted into a cube along with the island by Big Fluke. (StH: #170, #185)
Zone Jail[]
A Ball Hog was seen in the Zone Jail during Scourge's time there, it took part in the riot. (SU: #32)
Appearance[]
Ball Hog is a pig-based classic badniks with a round head and torso. He also has triangular ears on his head, a pair of black eyes, a pig-like snout on his face, arms with hoof-like digits, and stubby legs with long feet. His color scheme has often been depicted inconsistently though.
Personality[]
As a classic badnik, Ball Hog possesses a limited A.I. As such, he has demonstrated both a personality and independent thoughts, like cracking jokes and making puns. (StH: #7, CSE)
Abilities[]
Ball Hog is able to roll over others like bowling pins, but not much else. (SA: #4)
Background information[]
- Ball Hog is modeled after the like-named badnik (known as Ton-ton in Japan) that debuted in the original Sonic the Hedgehog video game for the Sega Genesis.
