Summary[]

Story One[]

"The Messenger"

In Knothole, Dr. Quack has called Geoffrey St. John to figure out how Kodos ended up outside his hospital. According to Quack, Kodos is suffering from severe radiation poisoning which has caused him extreme physical and mental damage. Geoffrey has a hunch that he knows how Kodos made it to Knothole and barges into Sonic's house, demanding answers. Sonic doesn't seem to know what he's talking about, so Geoffrey heads out after reminding Sonic not to be late for school. Meanwhile, in Robotropolis, a shadowy figure resembling Sonic takes out a Shadowbot and drags it away. At the palace, Sally muses that she can't wait to see her friends again. Geoffrey proposes that he escort her if she leaves the palace, so Sally drops the idea, thinking to herself that she needs to find a way to meet with her friends in private.

At school, Mina asks Sonic to tutor her so she can control her super speed. Rotor comes by and tells Sonic that he hasn't seen Tails or Antoine in a while, which worries Sonic. While they chat, a Shadowbot bursts into the school. Sonic grabs Nate Morgan and leads him downstairs with the students while the Shadowbot chases him. He asks Mina to lead the rest of the students out of the building while he deals with the robot. Bunnie jumps in and knocks the robot through a wall. Before Sonic can finish the robot off, it starts to play a message from Uncle Chuck. The message confirms that the Sword of Acorns can return the free will of a Robian and that Uma Arachnis stole the sword, but before it can finish the robot is pierced with a flurry of arrows and heavily damaged, unable to complete its message. Geoffrey, crossbow in hand, and his Secret Service agents claim the Shadowbot as a specimen, threatening Sonic with imprisonment if he interferes.

Later that day, Rotor, Bunnie, and Mina show up at Sonic's house. His mother and father tell them that Sonic wants to be left alone for the night. Sonic, reading a comic book about super heroes in his room, decides that if "Sonic" isn't allowed to investigate, "Sonic" won't.

Story Two[]

"The Chosen One"

Merlin Prower and Athair stand before a sleeping Tails. Athair believes that Tails may be the only one that can save Chaos Knuckles. He reasons that Knuckles is suffering due to his artificially enhanced powers, and that what he needs more than anything is a friend to talk to. Merlin refuses, fearing that Tails may die trying to confront the Chaos-crazed Knuckles. Athair starts to argue that an ancient prophecy validates his idea, but Merlin angrily retorts that Athair's prophecies never come out the way he interprets them.

Outside, Knuckles cries for help from his family. Tired and confused, Knuckles lies down to sleep on the ground. Athair says that this may be their best chance to deal with Knuckles and orders Merlin to call forth the chosen one. Merlin says an incantation and Tails suddenly wakes up, hovering over Knuckles as Turbo Tails. Knuckles wakes up and asks how Tails is there, but Tails tells him it doesn't matter and that they need to talk. Knuckles asks what they could possibly talk about, but Tails tries to be reasonable, promising to help him find his family. Knuckles senses that someone else is nearby and Merlin and Athair reveal themselves. Merlin claims that they only want to help, but Knuckles has clearly become paranoid and attacks. Tails steps in to defend Merlin as Knuckles gets ready to fight.

Quotes[]

  • St. John: "All right, boy... How did he get there?"
  • Sonic: "Uhhh.. How did who get where?"
  • St. John: "Blast."

  • Tails: "I'm sorry, Knuckles -- but I don't think you can tell friend from foe right now!!"
  • Knuckles: "Says who? Any mug who decks me sure ain't a friend -- so you better get ready to rumble!!!"

Key Events[]

  • Mina asks Sonic to help her control her speed.
  • Antoine goes missing.
  • A Shadowbot infiltrates Knothole and breaks into the school.
  • The Shadowbot is revealed to be reprogrammed by Uncle Chuck and intended to deliver a message about the Sword of Acorns restoring the Robians' free will.
