Summary[]

Story One[]

"Escape From The Floating Island"

Sonic jumps off a cliff overlooking Angora Falls, narrowly avoiding a bolt shot by Geoffrey St. John. He tries to use his "figure eight" technique to move to safety, but finds himself tired and cramped after all that's happened. Desperate, he takes off one of his shoes, grabs the dirt inside, throws it, and runs across the dirt like a bridge to safety. Crashing into the riverbank, Sonic wearily gets up and tries to make his way back to Knothole, Geoffrey and the Royal Guards in pursuit.

In Knothole, Dr. Robotnik reveals that the mysteriously recovered King Acorn was actually an Auto Automaton. Robotnik taunts the Freedom Fighters, telling them that he will allow them to live for now while his new weapon is ready to destroy every living being on Mobius. Meanwhile in Robotropolis, Dr. Quack reports to Snively that he's done everything Robotnik demanded, handing him the documentation of Princess Sally's death. Quack demands Snively hold his end of their bargain, but Snively reveals Quack's wife and children imprisoned in a nearby cell. Quack furiously lunges at Snively, but he is shot by a Combot. Snively helps Quack up and promises that his family will be safe if he does them one last favor. Snively reveals King Acorn, still half-crystallized, and sends Doctor Quack to his task.

Sonic, exhausted, nearly gives up on reaching Knothole when he gets an idea. He whistles in a way only he is fast enough to do and summons Dulcy to his side. Sonic pleads that he would never hurt Sally and Dulcy, being a dragon, senses the purity of truth and believes him. Dulcy flies Sonic away, narrowly evading Geoffrey St. John and his group.

At Hershey Cat's home in Knothole, Drago pretends to be the Duke of all Mobius while Hershey tries to tell him that Princess Sally has died. Drago slaps her aside and tells her that she's the one who killed Sally. Hershey doesn't believe him, but Drago instructs her to put on her Sonic mask from the other day. Hershey is shocked to see Snively in her own reflection. Drago then explains to her that the Sonic disguise he convinced her into wearing makes everyone appear as Snively, and that he duped her into cutting Sally's rope during her mission in Robotropolis. Drago laughs about his mentally and physically abusive behavior while Hershey sobs on the floor.

Inside the Great Crater in Downunda, Bunnie and Antoine are chained to a wall. A Combot tells them that any attempt to use Bunnie's super strength will activate an explosive in Antoine's prison collar. Left alone in their cell, Bunnie and Antoine meet Walt Wallabee and Barby Koala of the Downunda Freedom Fighters. Before the group can chat, Crocbot appears in their cell and tells the group that he is this facility's warden. He explains that, after crashing into the crater, he rebuilt himself and dedicated all of his efforts to capturing those who "wronged" him, starting with the Downunda Freedom Fighters. He tells Antoine and Bunnie that he'll enjoy torturing them to lure Tails to the prison and leaves. Bunnie comforts Antoine, assuring him that they'll find a way to escape.

Dulcy and Sonic arrive on the Floating Island, only for Knuckles to knock her out for approaching the island without permission. Sonic is disgusted that Knuckles would attack a creature as kind and innocent as Dulcy and, itching for a rematch, the two rivals fight. They land a few blows and rush towards each other, only to be stopped by a sudden explosion. Geoffrey St. John parachutes down to the island, warning Knuckles that he's the only one allowed to defeat Sonic.
