Summary[]

Story One[]

"That's the Spirit!" - Part One

Sonic and Sally are infiltrating Robotropolis to destroy Dr. Robotnik's new anti-matter machine, which would allow him to turn anything he chooses invisible. NICOLE detects some anti-matter emissions nearby and Sonic, cocky as ever, rushes ahead to destroy the device. However, the entrance to the room containing the anti-matter machine closes behind Sonic, separating him from Sally. Robotnik appears on a large screen in front of Sonic and reveals that the anti-matter machine is a failed experiment and he started rumors to lure Sonic into a trap. Sonic tries to set off a bomb Rotor made, but as he runs away he trips on a cord. The bomb goes off and hours later Sally finds her way back to Knothole. She tells everyone that Sonic sacrificed his life to destroy the anti-matter device. Tails refuses to believe Sonic is really gone.

"That's the Spirit!" - Part Two

Back in Robotropolis, in the crater left by the explosion, Sonic has become invisible and intangible due to the effects of the anti-matter device. He rushes back to Knothole, only to find that the Freedom Fighters are honoring him with a crudely made statue. Tails still refuses to believe Sonic is dead. Sonic, overhearing all of this, believes himself to be a ghost only to become tangible again. Realizing what happened he rushes back to Knothole, finding a note Tails left for him saying that the Freedom Fighters went to Robotropolis to avenge his death.

"That's the Spirit!" - Part Three

At Robotropolis, Robotnik is celebrating the "death" of Sonic the Hedgehog until he notices the Freedom Fighters sneaking into Robotropolis. He decides to use his Buzzard 'Bot to capture and roboticize them. Unbeknownst to Robotnik, Sonic sneaks on board and pretends to be a ghost to frighten him. Sonic steers the ship up and down, across mountains and up hills, and calls out to Robotnik. He sends the Buzzard 'Bot into a free fall and tells Robotnik to scram. Robotnik and Snively abandon the Buzzard 'Bot and Sonic reveals himself to the Freedom Fighters.

Story Two[]

"Deadliest of the Species - Prologue"

Sally sneaks into Robotropolis with NICOLE. They steal some data from a facility and set it the computers to self-destruct. As she scurries away, she's followed by someone on the rooftops. Hearing them land nearby, she arms herself with a grenade as she approaches their location. Her pursuer, Geoffrey St. John, faces her armed with a sleep dart. He demands she explain why she's there. Sally tries to explain that she activated the facility's self-destruct sequence, but they're both caught in the explosion. They brush themselves off as Sally introduces herself. Geoffrey realizes she's the princess and introduces himself and tells her that he's part of the Rebel Underground. They continue to discuss the Rebel Underground while a SWATbot watches in the distance.
