Summary[]

Story One[]

"Songoose" Part 2 of 2

Mina thanks Sonic and the Freedom Fighters for acting as her bodyguards for her concert. Sonic assures her that, after Dr. Eggman and Nack's assassination attempt, they couldn't take any chances. Ash asks Mina if they can speak in private, but Sonic insists that they can talk at ease. Ash and Sonic bicker until Mina breaks them up and dismisses the Freedom Fighters. Ash suggests that Mina cancel the concert, and eventually they begin to argue over whether Mina still has a crush on Sonic. Ash asks Mina to prove that she doesn't love Sonic anymore. Mina stands speechless and Ash decides that it would be better for both of them if they break off their relationship.

Meanwhile, Sonic checks out the stage and reports the team's plan of action to Sally via video on his watch. The entire Freedom Fighter squad is set in position all over the concert, but Sally is upset to learn that Sonic left Mina unguarded. He heads back to the dressing room to check on Mina and finds her trying to regain her composure. As the concert begins, Dr. Eggman complains about Mina's music as he tracks Bomb and his replicas as they infiltrate the arena. A civilian spots one and shouts, causing the crowd to disperse. Sonic quickly grabs Mina and escorts her out of harm's way. Ash demands that Sonic help the other Freedom Fighters deal with the Bombs while he takes care of Mina. They argue over who should protect Mina until Heavy erupts from the ground underneath them to launch a sneak attack.

Fiona, Amy and Tails dispose of the bombs while Sonic burrows underground, luring Heavy into an underground reservoir. Heavy sinks to the bottom and Sonic passes out in the water. He later regains consciousness on the surface, having been rescued by Bunnie. Mina thanks Sonic again and they plan on a date. Mina heads back into the dressing room when Ash appears, wanting to talk out their problems. Ash tries to profess his love when they notice one last Bomb sitting on her dresser. Ash grabs the bomb and runs out of the room. The Freedom Fighters hear an explosion and rush back to the scene, where they find Mina crying over Ash.

In Castle Acorn, Dr. Quack tells the group that Ash will eventually recover and allows Mina to visit his bedside. Mina finds him asleep and cries, feeling guilty for not being strong enough to tell him that she loves him more than anyone. Ash wakes up and teases her, and the two kiss. Sonic, watching from the doorway, silently walks away. Meanwhile, Dr. Eggman throws a tantrum over his failed plan and is disgusted at his current state. Thinking about how fragile his human form is, he gets an idea.

Story Two[]

"More Than Meets the Eye"

The scientifically-inclined Freedom Fighters test the nanites that A.D.A.M. left behind in the Nanite City, stimulating them with 50,000 volts of electricity. The nanites don't react, and Tommy Turtle accuses Snively of killing them. Uncle Chuck tells him that the nanites can't be "killed", but Tommy is skeptical. Snively insists that Eggman has never created life and never will, and the group heads out of the testing area. Tommy remains behind, wanting to know more about the nanites and muses that he also knows how it feels to be underestimated.

Suddenly the nanites begin to grow and start to attach to Tommy's shell. Hearing Tommy's shouts, Chuck heads back and discovers that Tommy unwittingly made a symbiotic connection with the nanites. Tommy grows mechanical wings in response to his thoughts, which then recede back into his shell. Tommy muses about the nanites merging with his nervous system and who really controls whom now, but puts that thought aside to test the nanites out. By just thinking of going somewhere, the nanites create a jetpack and launch Tommy into the sky, where they tell the group that they're taking Tommy for a ride by spelling a message with the jetpack's exhaust fumes.

  • Mina: "Ex-girlfriend."
  • Sonic: "Ex-girlfriend? Since when?"
  • Ash: "It doesn't matter, hedgehog! Mina got along fine a whole year without you!"

  • Mina: "Oh, Ash. I'm so sorry for everything that happened. I know you were only trying to protect me the same as Sonic. A part of me will always hold a place for him in my heart...but I don't love him. I love you. I was a fool not to let you know that. Maybe you should have let Bomb finish me off..."
  • Ash: "And miss this killer reconciliation? Are you kidding me, doll?"
