Frontis Quotation[]

"The Dark Legion was never defeated. We were stabbed in the back by the weak and greedy in power. The true Echidna civilization is destined to rule the world of Mobius. Only a strong leader — such as myself — can save Echidnaopolis from the radicals and techno-conservatives who would wish us back into the stone age."

Menniker, addressing his troops after emerging from their imprisonment in another zone.

Story One[]

Dark Alliance: Part Two of Three - "Election Night"

High Councillor Pravda makes a special announcement to the people of Echidnaopolis, explaining that he will not run for re-election and will reveal his recommended candidate tomorrow. Both General Von Stryker and Constable Remington prepare for the upcoming rally, fearing the worst. Meanwhile, in a cafe, the Chaotix complain about politics. Knuckles brushes it off, figuring that it doesn't concern him.

The next day, Knuckles and the Chaotix arrive at the rally at the behest of Remington. Echidna and dingo protestors gather while Remington explains to the heroes that he recently discussed re-election with Pravda, who had wanted to keep things low-key since his opposition was weak. Knuckles wonders what changed his mind as Pravda arrives with a mysterious man by his side. Remington is surprised, having never seen the man before. Pravda introduces the man to the crowd as his sponsored candidate, Benedict. Recounting the history of the echidnas and technology, Benedict urges the crowd to discard the incumbent politicians and embrace technology. He ends his speech hailing Dimitri.

In Haven, members of the Brotherhood discuss the rally. Sojourner admits that they've been a bit hypocritical with their use of technology, but Sabre argues that their technology is only used to defend against the Dark Legion and that Edmund never meant for people to give up technology forever. Thunderhawk tries to calm them down, but their debate is interrupted when a group of Dark Legionnaires tranquilize the Guardians in an ambush.

As the rally ends, Remington approaches Benedict and warns him that he could be arrested for trying to incite a riot. Benedict asks on what grounds he would charge this; Remington points out he's been aiding and abetting criminal echidnas, as several of his supporters have outstanding arrest warrants. Pravda intervenes, demanding that Remington join them for a private talk in their limo. Knuckles is troubled, wondering why Remington's agents aren't arresting the Dark Legionnaires in the crowd. Meanwhile, in the streets of Echidnaopolis, General Von Stryker plans to exploit the echidna in-fighitng and orders Gerbil to gather the dingoes. Suddenly, Xenin appears behind them and easily defeats Stryker. He orders his goons to take Stryker to the Dark Legion base and lock the other dingoes in the sewers.

Shortly after, Vector notices a truck full of dingoes being carted away and Xenin appears from above Knuckles and the Chaotix with his Dark Legion troops. Xenin announces that he has been ordered to retrieve Julie-Su, dead or alive. Knuckles tries to attack, but is overpowered by Xenin. Meanwhile, in Haven, Sabre, Thunderhawk, and Soujourner are restrained while the Kommissar mocks them for having trusted their spy, Moritori Rex. Moritori contacts Dimitri and reports that Locke and Spectre are nowhere to be found. Dimitri mulls over this situation while Knuckles mocks his plan. Dimitri is surprised that Knuckles would still fight back while restrained with Julie-Su and Stryker, warning him that his pain has only just begun.

He tells him it's been great, but he keeps finding little pieces of paper near the bottom. Written by Michael Gallagher, Pencils by Dave Manak.
