Summary[]

Story One[]

The Chaotix Caper: Part One of Three - "The Unsuspecting!"

Harry, a taxi driver and former member of the Dingo Regime, is working the night shift in Echidnaopolis when he hears a cry for help. He heads into an alleyway and finds Charmy Bee trying to help his unconscious friend, Mello. Harry takes them to the hospital, where Mello is rushed into the emergency room. Harry plans to slip away, but relents to his conscience and tries to comfort Charmy before heading out. As he makes for the exit, Constable Remington arrives and the rest of the Chaotix accidentally knock him down. While the others talk to Charmy, Mighty notices Harry and helps him back to his feet. An echidna doctor leaves the operating room and gives them the bad news.

Meanwhile, Renfield T. Rodent watches as a shipment of supplies arrives for his Happyland Amusement Park. He schemes to himself, anxious for the reopening of his park to attract a new crowd of customers from Echidnaopolis. Unbeknownst to Renfield, he is being watched remotely by another businessman, Downtown Ebony Hare, who plots his own schemes. At the Echidna Security Team HQ, the Chaotix and Julie-Su watch as Remington questions Charmy about what happened to Mello. Charmy explains that they went to Happyland, having read that it was under new management, but when they left Mello fell ill and started twitching.

Remington tells the group that what happened to Mello is the latest in a series of cases of Lemon Sundrop Dandelion poisoning. He explains that local scientists suspect that the outbreak is caused by a contamination of local foods, but they are unable to track its source. In addition, they've discovered that most of the victims tend to be children or young adults. With all of this in mind, the Constable charges the Chaotix with investigating Happyland.

In Haven, Sabre finds Locke intensely monitoring their security systems to manage affairs in Knuckles' absence. He is confused to actually find Knuckles in the Mobian Badlands. Knuckles hears a strange noise nearby before noticing a pack of lights heading towards him. He runs away, surprising Locke and Sabre, who are impressed with his progress.

As the Chaotix leave EST HQ, Charmy notices a taxi nearby. He notices that the driver is Harry and thanks him for helping his friend. Harry realizes that Charmy has other intentions and agrees to take the group to Happyland. Julie-Su assumes that Mello's illness was caused by the food at the park, but Charmy doesn't recall Mello having eaten while they were there. The Chaotix chow down on some chili dogs, certain that everything is fine, but Julie-Su has reservations on giving up so quickly. Meanwhile, Downtown Ebony Hare and Foxy Reynard break into Renfield's office and demand to become "business partners" with him, threatening to Blackjack beat him up if he refuses. The Chaotix begin to trip out as they succumb to LSD poisoning.
